A deep dive into the world of François Pérusse

How can the sound driven, absurd world of François Pérusse be brought to life in the real world? That was the challenge the production team at the Just For Laughs festival put to us.

A major challenge for our team: create an installation that would delight long time fans while also giving newcomers the pleasure of discovering this iconic figure of Québec humour.

Their business goals

The Just For Laughs festival wanted to offer a cultural and innovative activity that would pay tribute to the work of François Pérusse while delivering a fully experiential concept. Here are the objectives we helped bring to life:

  • Innovate by offering an experience guided by a mobile app throughout the entire festival.
  • Develop an original project with a refined design and polished visual style inspired by the world of François Pérusse.
  • Make musical culture and the universe created by François Pérusse accessible, while introducing it to new audiences.
  • Reach François Pérusse fans across Montréal and throughout Québec.
  • Showcase and amplify the reach of François Pérusse’s body of work.

In short, the goal was to create a turnkey, autonomous interactive activity that is entertaining, artistic and accessible, celebrating a major figure in Québec humour.

Our creativity

For fans like us, this mandate was pure joy. Diving into the gold mine of content created by François Pérusse and bringing it to life at full scale was a creative dream come true.

Our team quickly asked itself a key question. How could we bring François Pérusse’s absurd, sound driven world to life without betraying his legendary humour?

We transformed iconic sketches into interactive experiences:

  • Taste the legendary dishes from Raymond’s Snack Bar.
  • Sing the classics at the Pérusse karaoke.
  • Have fun with the giant phone from the guy who’s shopping around.
  • Capture the moment at the photo booth inspired by the famous Ski Doo.

And for visitors less familiar with his work?
A Quest to Go offered a playful stroll through Place des Festivals, blending humour, games and sound based discovery.

Every detail, visual, audio and interactive, was designed by our team to transform Pérusse’s radio universe into an immersive, funny and fully participatory space.

Our tactics

To bring this one of a kind cultural experience to life, we imagined two game and challenge paths tailored to different audiences: One for the curious. One for seasoned fans.

Participants, guided by the festival’s mobile app, unlocked challenges and interactions inspired by François Pérusse’s most iconic sketches. Each stop combined physical sets, soundscapes and playful challenges, creating a lively rhythm and full immersion.

The sets, created in collaboration with Ateliers Morel Leroux, faithfully recreated the artist’s bold and eclectic aesthetic. Textures, colours and iconic props all echoed the offbeat humour of the Carrefour du Peuple.

Our team handled:

  • The artistic and scenographic direction.
  • The design of both paths, one for fans and one for newcomers.
  • Technical coordination on the festival site.
  • Turnkey delivery of the full experience.

A large scale project brought to life with creativity, precision and plenty of laughter, all in celebration of the unique world of François Pérusse!
